Carb Teardown must be done with care.
Take pictures and notes. Store everything carefully.
For multi-cylinder bikes, keep everything from each carb stored separately.
Dealing with seized slides & fasteners – I scrounge up old carbs whenever I can and often they are NASTY! I don’t hesitate to power wash carbs before teardown. Get the gunk off them using whatever method you can. I have a big old pot that I throw on my BBQ, with 50/50 water and PineSol. I dismantle as much as I can from the carbs and then put the works in the boiling fluid and let them soak for about 20 minutes. This is usually enough to free up stubborn fasteners and stuck slides.
Warning! Carbs are NOT aluminum! They’re made of zinc alloy (aka Pot Metal) that is not strong and cannot be welded even with TIG gear. So resist the temptation to get out the spring-loaded impact driver or you may ruin something.
